Beauty and The Beast | Book Tag |

Today it’s time for another Tag y’all! I was tagged to do the Beauty and The Beast Tag by Gretchen @ ChicNerdReads! Thank you Gretchen!! ☺ Please check out Gretchen’s blog, I am a big fan, especially of the poetry she writes! I know people are probably bored by me saying this all the time but …. I do not care at all, her poetry goes straight to the heart!!

1. “TALE AS OLD AS TIME” – A POPULAR THEME, TROPE OR SETTING YOU WILL NEVER GET BORED OF READING.

For one I totally agree with Gretchen on the Bad Boy Trope, but I also love “Girl/Boy falls for Best Friends older Brother” situations! I’m a sucker for those books and I don’t think I’ve ever come across one that I didn’t like!!

2. BELLE – A BOOK YOU BOUGHT FOR IT’S BEAUTIFUL COVER THAT’S JUST AS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE TOO

Oh goodness… Usually I do not buy books solely based on their appearance but one I mainly bought for its cover was – I think – Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, maybe… Of course I liked the Synopsis as well but when I bought the book I found it’s cover really cool and pretty!

3. BEAST – A BOOK YOU DIDN’T EXPECT MUCH FROM BUT PLEASANTLY SURPRISED YOU.

I honestly think that one might’ve been Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I think y’all know by now that this is one of my favorite series, but when I picked it up I thought that I might not like it as it’s Sci-Fi but…. we all know how that turned out 😉😁 The book is absolutely incredible and you can check my review out here!

4. GASTON – A BOOK EVERYONE LOVES THAT YOU DON’T

You know…. I don’t think I have one of those. I usually don’t read the books that are currently “in” because my reading plans are always all over the place 😅 The only one I could mention here is After by Anna Todd but since a lot of people hate this one as well I gotta stick with not having an answer for this question 😅

 5. LEFOU – A LOYAL SIDEKICK YOU CAN’T HELP BUT LOVE MORE THAN THEIR COUNTER PART.

BAMBI FROM THE DARK ELEMENTS!!! I mean Bambi is basically just a demon snake that can turn into a human – she’s a familiar – but I loved her so so much!! I wouldn’t necessarily say I loved her more than the two leads, but I liked her at least just as much…..which is a lot!! 😅 She’s this sassy tattoo/animal/human that brings across so much emotion, irony, and fun without saying a word – for most of the time at least – and her eating a whole person (or a few) helps with liking her a lot as well 😅

 6. MRS POTTS, CHIP, LUMIER & COGSWORTH – A BOOK THAT HELPED YOU THROUGH A DIFFICULT TIME OR THAT TAUGHT YOU SOMETHING VALUABLE

Usually books don’t help me through difficult times as I am the type who uses music for that, therefore I don’t have a book for that aspect. I do have a book that taught me something valuable though! Sweet Soul by Tillie Cole! The Female lead in this book is strongly hearing impaired and since she couldn’t afford a proper hearing aid her speaking abilities have suffered as well. Due to that she was bullied a lot which led to horrible things and history will repeat itself…..

I feel like I am not a judgmental  person at all, and “actively” I am not. I would never just go ahead and talk crap about a person without knowing them, but subconsciously I do judge people and I find it horrible!! This book has strengthened my desire to control those subconscious thoughts and keep them from coming out! I personally know how it feels to be judged by people who don’t know you so I found it horribly ashamed when I did it myself! I’m doing a lot better now and I am proud of that!

7. “SOMETHING THERE” – A BOOK OR A SERIES THAT YOU WEREN’T INTO AT FIRST BUT PICKED UP TOWARDS THE END.

Once again I don’t have a concrete example but I think for this one I can go ahead and “judge” 😅 a whole genre…. For me Thrillers are usually pretty slow and in the beginning I’m not really into it but oftentimes that changes after a few murders or psychological torture 😅😉

8. “BE OUR GUEST” – A FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU’D LOVE TO HAVE OVER FOR DINNER

Winter from Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer! I mean come on, she’s a princess therefore has great manners and she is one of the kindest people I have ever read about! And she would probably say the food tasted great even though it was horrible 😅 and then she’d scream at the bleeding walls and I’d freak out – perfect dinner!

I actually finished this book a few days ago and I have been wanting post the review but I can’t get anything done currently! School’s keeping me so busy, but I hope I can get it out to y’all soon anyways!

Winter by Marissa Meyer

This book series is life and while I am sad that it’s the last book in the series, I am also happy that Miranda finally gets her own story!

What was the last book you marked as to-read?

When Michael met Mina by Randa Abdel-Fattah

I saw this book in a post by Reg @ She Lattitude, it sounded really interesting and like something I’d like so I immediately added it to my TBR list! And btw apparently I forgot to mention Reg in my ‘New York Times by the book Tag’ post , so here’s the updated post. Sorry Reg!

What book do you plan to read next?

Since my last post I decided that I’ll probably read Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff! I just need something different and I think this will be a great, different, interesting book to read….but I never know which ebooks might cross my path 😉

Do you use the star rating system?

Yes I do! When I created my blog I actually wanted to come up with a different rating system but in the end I just decided to stick with the good old star system! I just think it’s a great universal way to rate something, that everybody understands! 👍🏼

Are you doing a 2016 reading challenge?

Yes I am, but sadly I had to lower my goal recently…. I am extremely busy with school (German school doesn’t mess around 😅) so I can’t get anything done – I only published 5 posts this month and that’s just sad!

Do you have a wishlist?

Yes I do but usually it’s quite short because I like to just let the books find me – unless it’s one of those auto-buy authors!

What book do you plan to buy next?

Well the one I KNOW I am going to buy is A Veil of Vines by Tillie Cole, as she is an auto-buy author for me! But in between that I’m sure I am going to buy other books, I just do not know them yet!

I haven’t joined a lot of groups so far and I’m not really active in any of them…. So far I haven’t really used Goodreads as a social network, but mainly as a way to organize my books 😅

Top 5 Wednesday -Characters you’d want as family

Happy Wednesday to y’all!! It’s time for another Top 5! The Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes and you can check out the weekly topics in the Goodreads group! This week’s topic is Characters You’d Want As Family and I’m really excited to do this even though I am gonna have to think about it a little…

Joshua Hayes from Take a Chance (Willow Creek #4) by Micalea Smeltzer

Hayes is such a weirdo but at the same time he cares a lot about his family and I think he’d make a great Uncle! Having him as an Uncle would be friggin’ amazing! 😅

Captain Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Okay, so I think my choice for him might be kinda weird but at the same time it makes sense to me! I would like him as a grandpa! Just think about it: He has lived such an interesting live with so many great companions, so I think he has a lot of stories to tell, that I would love to hear as a grandchild! Just imagine him sitting in a Wingchair, in front of a fireplace, smoking a pipe… Yep, definitely would want him as a grandpa!

Levi Carillo from Sweet Soul (Sweet Home #4) by Tillie Cole

Levi is the sweetest person I have ever come across in a book and I absolutely love him! I feel like it’d be great to have him as a big or twin brother ❤ That would be amazing! Same really goes for his brothers (Sweet Fall and Sweet Hope) as well, but for different reasons!

Grace St. Claire from the Supernaturals Series by Kelly Oram

Grace would be an amazing sister or maybe even mother, I’m sure of that! She is really empathic, trustworthy and just a good person in general! I would trust her with anything in my life and I think she would be there for everyone in the family at any time! And the other thing: You’d get Archangel Michael’s son Ethan with her as a package deal!! It’s always good to have the son of an angel on your side… 😉

Heath Luck from the House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

(Not gonna add all the books here 😅 )

I love Heath and his character development during the books, I don’t know exactly where I would want to place him in my family, but I’d be happy to have him there!

*Spoiler*

The part where he died was the worst part in the whole series to me!! I loved him so much and when he died I bawled my eyes out, it was so sad!!

Thank y’all for reading, I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

What characters would you like as family? Let me know and link your T5W! I love to read others’ posts for the Top 5 Wednesday!

Top 5 Wednesday – Favorite First Lines

Hello Guys! After being absent in this department last week, today I’ll take part in the Top 5 Wednesday once again! I am sorry for not being a part of T5W last week but I just couldn’t find enough books/authors to write a post for last week’s topic (Authors you’re waiting on another book from)! This week’s topic  is pretty easy though and I am excited to share some of my Favorite First Lines with y’all!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes and if you want to join in, check out their Goodreads group, where you can find topics, rules and other bloggers, who joined in!

1.The Fault in our Stars

11870085

“Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I rarely left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite a bit of my abundant free time to thinking about death.”

2.Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1)
the_lunar_chronicles_01_cinder

“The screw through cinder’s ankle had rusted, the engraved cross marks worn to a mangled circle.”

3.Remember Jamie Baker (Jamie Baker #3)

18590095

“I am not a patient person.”

4.White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements #1)

17455585

“There was a demon in McDonald’s. And it had a powerful hunger for Big Macs.”

5.A thousand Boy Kisses

29504138

“Jeg vil dra! Nå! Jeg vil reise hjem igjen!”

(I want to go! Now! I want to go home again!)

So these were some of my favorite first lines, thank you for reading this post! 🙂 Most of these I chose because they represent the tone of the book, a character, or an opinion perfectly and that’s what I like about them!

Have you read any of these books? What do you think of these first lines?

Book Shuffle | August

Hi guys! Today, once again, I want to do the Book Shuffle meme. I originally planed to post one of these twice a month, but I didn’t get around to do it, so monthly it is! This meme was created and is hosted by Shannon @ Clockwork Bibliophile and if you want to join in on the fun just check out her post about the Book Shuffle!

The song that came up in my library this time was 7 Years by Lukas Graham and I matched this one with A thousand boy kisses by Tillie Cole!

The Song

I absolutely love 7 Years! The components of this song fit together perfectly in my opinion and it’s just an overall great song. While I really enjoy a lot of songs by Lukas Graham they aren’t a band I listen to regularly…Even though I think I should, actually! This song has become one of my favorite songs to listen to when I’m awake at night…

The song itself really doesn’t have any connection to the book I’ve chosen but to me it still makes sense!

The Book

A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to books! It is so freaking sad but so beautiful and happy at the same time. I kind of wrote a review for the book that you can check out here. I think A thousand boy kisses is such a beautiful story and while it features some story elements that other YA writers have used before it is completely different from all of them!

For connecting the song and the movie I really don’t have a reasoning that others could understand, but a more personal one. It’s just that every time I hear this song, I have to think of Cole’s book and am close to crying every single time and this song kinda was my soundtrack to the book. Also, even though the song is about something completely different than the book, I feel like you could add different, book matching, lyrics to the instrumentals of 7 years and still have the same type of song. No one could really tell the difference I think.

A sad note that connects the song and the book is that Poppy and Rune will never be able to become good parents, or parents at all, which is what this song is really about. Aaaand there we go – just writing about that makes me cry all over again!

Well this was my second Book Shuffle and I hope you enjoyed reading it! And thank you for reading it! 🙂
