New York Times “By the book” Tag

It’s Tag time!! I’m sorry for not putting any reviews out lately but I’m honestly not reading books that I necessarily want to write a review about…. Still a sucky type of reading slump! I really can’t get trough the books that I really enjoy, that have been on my shelf for weeks and I don’t know why!! Well I guess I’m gonna have to keep doing tags until I get over this fucking reading slump! I got tagged to do this by Reg @ She Latitude, so go check out her post and her blog in general – you won’t be disappointed!!

rosesWhat book is on your nightstand now?

I generally do not keep my books on my nightstand, so in my case it’s on a little side part of my desk 🙈There I have 3 books currently and those are Winter by Marissa Meyer, Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, and Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe! Well… and the few hundreds on my Kindle 😅 Those literally are on my nightstand and I count them, since I basically read my favorite scenes from a random one (whichever one I feel like) every day!!

What was the last truly great book you’ve read?

It was a while ago that I’ve read this book, but it was absolutely amazing and since that
one I just haven’t read a book that left me speechless and touched. This last book was When We Collided by Emery Lord! (Here is my review for this book) It had a very big impact on me that none of the books I’ve read afterwards could top – so far!when-we-collided-emery-lord

If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be? And what would you want to know?

There are SO many!! But currently I think it would be Johann Wolfgang von Goethe or Friedrich Schiller. We have to read so many of their works in school, interpret and analyze them, and we talk about them non-stop! I would find it really interesting to hear from them what they thought about their literature, I mean maybe we got it all wrong, right? Also I would like to know what they think about their importance and presence in German-class!

What books might we be surprised to find on your shelf?

Maybe the Manga books that I have?! I really don’t know 😅 Also all the required reads for German-class as well as some law books… Never know when you might need those 😉

How do you organize your personal library?

I’ve had my bookshelves organized so many different ways so far, it’s not even funny..😅

I pretty much went trough every kind of order you can imagine but currently I chose to organize it in a Goodreads type of way… You know: TBR, Read, Currently Reading and so on 🙂

What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around to yet?

A LOT! For example I’ve wanted to read “To Kill A Mockingbird” but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I really really wanna read it though!!

Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you are supposed to like but didn’t?

Honestly, the only one I can think of right now is “After” by Anna Todd! I usually like most of the books others like, because usually they’re good books so there aren’t many popular ones that I dislike 👍🏼

Ohhhh but there are also those like “The Hunger Games Trilogy” that I originally liked, but that were ruined for me by the hype😅

What kind of stories are you drawn to? Any you stay clear of?

Drawn to:

  • Anything Supernatural (Especially creatures and how they’re unique in each story)
  • Fairytale Retellings
  • Stories with good world-building and authentic characters (therefore I love the first books in series 😉)
  • Books that talk about real, important issues
  • Dystopias of which the way it came to be is relatable

Stay away from:

  • Books were cheating is made out to be alright (I’m looking at you After)
  • Completely unrelatable characters
  • Non-Fiction
  • Post/Pre/Whatever War literature
  • Books supporting idiotic stereotypes

If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?

I have no clue at all! I feel like I don’t really read books that’d be relevant for the leader of a country…

What do you plan to read next?

I’m gonna follow Reg’s example here! Help me decide! It might take a while until I can get to it but who cares 😁😁

Thank y’all for reading and I hope you enjoyed it ☺

I Tag:

I know, when someone say “I tag everyone” you never feel like they also mean you – at least I don’t – but seriously just do if you feel like it! I’d love to get a link to your post in the comments if you feel like doing this tag!

It’s my birthday! – 5 Things I’m thankful for when it comes to blogging

Hi my friends! As the title says I am happy to announce *drumroll please* :

Today is the day I am turning 18 and therefore I am officially an adult now! I have mixed feelings about this day, but I think I am mostly happy about being 18 now… I have a lot more freedoms and I will make good use of those! 😄 While talking about birthdays I want to mention that it’s Megan’s (Bookslayer Reads) birthday as well! Happy Birthday girl!

Now I want to mention 5 Things I am thankful for when it comes to blogging!

  1. Sharing the books that I love and my opinions with the blogging community!
  2. Finding new books, music, random things through other bloggers!
  3. Gaining confidence with ever single reaction to my posts!
  4. Having to think more about the books I read and therefore enjoying them more and understanding them better!
  5. Lastly and most importantly: All of you Guys!! I am so thankful for every single comment, like, tag, nomination and follow!! Y’all are so supportive and I am so lucky to call myself a part of this amazing blogging community! The Sunshine Blogger Award #2

Another Award! Yay, I’m so happy!!

First off, I’M SORRY FOR BEING LATE!! Once again I get to thank Jasemin @ How useful it is and Lara @ The Heathen for this nomination! Thank you two so much, this nomination means a lot to me, especially if it comes from someone like y’all! You guys should definitely check out their blogs! They both have great content and it’s a pleasure to read their posts!!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you!

  • Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you!

  • Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write the  11 new questions!

Line Two

Lara’s Questions:

1.How many books have you read this year?

So far I have read 84 books this year, with my goal being 120 by the end of 2016!

2.What is your favorite genre of books?

I gotta admit that I am really bad at saying what genre a book is, so … Young or New Adult books featuring supernatural beings! I am a sucker for those!! ❤

3.What’s your favorite past time apart from blogging?

Reading?! Nah, just kidding! Well, of course it is but apart from that I love listening to music and playing the guitar and I also kinda like studying – YES I’m a total loser!! But to my defense, I do it because I love learning new things and not for the sake of studying!

4. What’s your one true book love?

You mean as Book Boyfriend? Well what can I say…It’s still Roth, Crown Prince of Hell, from the Dark Elements series by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

5.What’s the last movie you watched?

Suicide Squad!! And it was *sorry* fucking amazing!!!

Diablo was my favorite character especially in his final form!!

6.What is the last book you bought?

When Stars Collide by Micalea Smeltzer. I rated it 4.5 Stars and a review should be coming soon.

7.How often do you blog?

I try to post 4 – 6 times a week, but as y’all might’ve noticed I don’t really go trough with it at points! 😅

8.Do people in your real world know that you’re a blogger?

Yes, my friends and family know about it but I do not call myself a blogger because I still feel like I’m not a blogger, but a person blogging…More about that in the next question!

9.Do you hate the words blog and blogger?

I definitely don’t hate or dislike the words but sometimes the word blogger is just weird I think. I never really feel comfortable calling myself a blogger because it always seems like you have to be crazy popular to qualify as a blogger and I don’t feel like I live up to those standards!

10.What’s your favorite curse world?

Well Fuck for one and also Kacke, which means Shit in German.

11.What’s your average reading time?

For ebooks it’s usually a few hours up to a day and for “real” books it’s usually a few days, because I can never really sit down and actually read for too long since I don’t always have too much time!

Line Two

Jasmine’s Questions:

1. Just have to ask because I am too curious! Who is your book boyfriend?

As I said above it’s still Roth from the Dark Elements series! But to mention someone else too for once: A close second is Ethan Dunn from the Supernaturals series by Kelly Oram! Son of Archangel Michael – just as badass as Roth, people!!

2. What inspired the name of your blog?

I suck with names for anything, so I had no clue what to call this blog at first, but then I thought that I want to talk about books – to say a word about books. Et voilà A Word About Books was born!

3. What is your favorite genre?

Young or New Adult featuring Supernaturals

4. What is your least favorite genre?

I think it is Non-Fiction. I don’t think I’ve ever read a Non-Fiction book… Any good recommendations to try it out?

5. How many hard copy books do you own right now?

I am not at home right now so I have no clue, but it’s not a lot a lot, because I had a big ebook phase 😩 But I’m working on accumulating more hard copies! I do own about 500 or more ebooks on my Amazon Kindle!

6. Do you read books by yourself or with a buddy?

I read books by myself. I wish I could do buggy reading but honestly I have no clue how that would work or who to do it with 😅 None of my friends like to read as much as me (or at all) and if they do, they usually read German. I’d love to do buddy reading though…

7. Have you been to a book release party at a bookstore?

No I have not and I don’t think there are ever any close to where I live.

8. Have you interview a favorite author?

No I haven’t. Once again I don’t really know how I’d get in contact with them and how that would work out. But I am going to try to figure it out, because I think that’d be awesome!

9. What would you do if you ran into your favorite author on the street?

10. What is your second favorite thing to do besides reading?

Listening to music, spending time with my dog, and learning new things!

(Just for clarification: This is not my dog, of course, but I do own a Beagle)

11. Have you ever read for others? Like at a nursing home or read to your grandparents?

I don’t know if this counts, but I read for some kindergarten-kids a few times when I did an internship at said kindergarten. Also I took part in a reading contest once in 5th grade where I read for the school from Brisingr (The Inheritance Cycle #3) by Christopher Paolini.

Book Shuffle | July

So the other day I saw the Book Shuffle hosted by Shannon from the blog Clockwork Bibliophile and I thought, since I just love music, I could try that out!

The first song that came up on my phone was Amnesia by 5 Seconds of Summer and I matched it to the book Remember Jamie Baker by Kelly Oram.

1.The Song

You know, I’m pretty sure that by now everyone in my age group knows this song and I have to admit I really, really love this song! But for anyone who doesn’t know it here’s the music video:

I honestly just love the tone of the song, as well as the lyrics and *sigh* everything about it. Also it was a pretty easy one to match… as you might realize from the title of the book I connected with this beautiful song!

2.The Book (Spoilers!)

As you read above my chosen book is Remember Jamie Baker by Kelly Oram and the reason for this is obvious – Jamie has Amnesia. I know, I know this is the opposite of creative and the song isn’t even about someone with Amnesia yadayadayada…But that really isn’t the (main) reason this book was my first choice.

The important one really is Ryan Miller!! Ryan is such an optimistic, lovable, kind person who, btw, always kind of reminded me of a puppy-a Husky, maybe, or a Labradoodle…But let’s get back on topic. When the mentioned song came up for my Book Shuffle I had to think of what could’ve been Ryan if he wasn’t the strong, kindhearted person he is. Think about it – his fiancee went missing for months and he didn’t have a clue where she could be. For all he knew she could’ve been dead or could’ve just decided she didn’t love him anymore. Most people with weaker characters would’ve cracked under these circumstances and as in the song would’ve wished they had amnesia themselves to keep from feeling the pain of the loss again and again, day for day. But lucky for us this didn’t happen and Jamie finally got ALL her memories back, so we were able to enjoy Jamie Baker and Ryan Miller once again! I just love those two so so much and I just wished it could go on forever!

Thanks for reading and I hope this Book Shuffle was alright! Let me know what you thought of it! You should definitely check out the creator Shannon’s blog that I linked above!

Update and June Wrap up!

So… Well I haven’t posted in a long time! It basically sucked but I felt like I didn’t have the time beside school to have a blog and decided to give up…Foolish me!

During those last three and something months I’ve noticed that I really missed writing down my opinions about books and (hopefully) share them with others that are interested in those. I don’t know if anyone can really relate to this but I literally don’t have a single person I can talk to about books. Yeah so I want to try to post stuff again and keep sharing them with others…I thought I could start with a Wrap up of what I’ve read in June:

*Puts on motivational music*

So let’s do this!!

Das Parfum – Die Geschichte eines Moerders -Patrick Sueskind

I had to read this book for school and I didn’t really think this would be my kind of book…and it’s not.

I only give this book 2 Stars

Of course it has its good parts and for the most time I was just bored reading this book and really don’t like the writing style. I like the idea of the book though and that’s why it didn’t get less stars.

Kick, Push (Kick, Push #1) – Jay McLean

I loved this book and I also love most of the authors other books so it’s not really surprising that I give this book 5 Stars .

This book was actually a re-read because the next book in the series was released and I just wanted to make sure i was back on track. It was just as good as the first time I’ve got to say.
