The Secret Life of a Book Blogger | Book Tag |

For starters: I AM NOT DEAD! 😅 I’m sorry for this mini hiatus, but I had to work through some issues so:

Today it’s time for another Tag, y’all! This time I got tagged by Taylor @ Taylor Reads Books to do the Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag! Thank you Taylor, and you others please check out her blog! I am really excited to do this Tag – I’ve seen it around and I think it’s a great way to share a few things about the blog!

Line Two

How long have you been a blogger?

I started this blog in April 2016, but I only published 5 posts that month and then quit for two months, so the real blogging started this July!

Line Two

At what point do you think you will stop?

Well, maybe not never, but this is such a great hobby and it’s so much fun, so I want to try to continue for as long as possible!

Line Two

What is the best part?

Y’all are! I really think that this amazing community is the best part about blogging! Everyone is so supportive and you can basically always find someone to talk to about anything! 😍 Also I love that I get to talk about my interests – books -, my favorite things – books -, and that people are actually interested in the same things!

Line Two

What is the worst part?

Sometimes blogging can be quite stressful and I often feel like my posts aren’t good enough and don’t compare to others’…

Line Two

How long does it take you to find/create pictures to use?

As the quality of my cover pictures shows I don’t spend too much time on them… I do my best, try to be creative but constant, but I’m just really not good with creating pictures! The GIFs I take from, so I don’t own any rights of them. I get the pictures of book covers from

Line Two

Who’s your book crush?

I think we already established that 😅 Roth, Crownprince of hell from the Dark Elements series by Jennifer L. Armentrout! A close second is Ethan Dunn, son of the archangel Michael from the Supernaturals series by Kelly Oram.

Line Two

What author would you like to have on your blog?

Definitely Jennifer L. Armentrout! I love her books, she’s one of my favorite authors and it would just be amazing to have someone like her on my blog! Another author that I would find really interesting is Emery Lord. Her book When We Collided had a really big influence on me and I think that she must be a very interesting person!

Line Two

What do you wear when you write your blog?

Adidas running pants and loose shirts or Hoodies 😁 I dress down for my favorite hobby  😅
Line Two

How long does it take you to prepare a post?

It depends… Some posts I write within an hour or two and for others – mostly reviews – I need a few days, or a few hours!

Line Two

How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

I absolutely love it! The community (at least from my experience) is very supportive and absolutely lovely! As for the blogging culture… Well I guess I have to like it since I decided to be a part of it, right?

Line Two

What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?

Just be yourself! Try to be unique and stand out, show who you are and, again, be yourself! Also, it’s perfectly alright to make mistakes! This is your space in the internet, do it your way, no one  has the right to say anything about it!

Line Two

That’s it for today and I hope you liked finding out some more about my opinion of blogging 😄

I tag:

The Entertainer Blogger Award

Soooo, today I have another award post for y’all that I am really late for! I’m so sorry but, I don’t know, I guess I just didn’t get around to doing it up until now! I got nominated for this Award by Lara @ The Heathen and Jasmine @ How Useful It Is and I think y’all know my opinion of those two by now! I absolutely love their blogs, they are very supportive and if you have question you can count on them! Please check out their blogs – it’s definitely gonna be worth your while!

The Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Add these rules to your post.
  • Answer all the questions below.
  • Display the award picture in your post.
  • Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most important of all ENTERTAINING!

The Questions

Q1. Why did you start a blog in the first place?
Well… For one I have a pretty sucky memory and I wanted to have an outlet to write down my opinions on books so I will remember how I felt when reading them! Also I don’t have any friends that enjoy reading as much as I do, so I was also hoping to find people with the same interests!

Q2. What is your favourite book?
How DARE you ask such a question!!!!

Nah just kidding, but I really can’t give you an answer to that question! What book-worm can? Some of my favorites are The Shadow Falls Series, The Lunar Chronicles, A Thousand Boy Kisses and so, so, so many more!!

Q3. What do you dislike the most?
Inequality, Oppression, Prejudice, Hate

Q4. What is your favourite food item from the mall?
Well in German malls I don’t really eat anything, but in American malls I love Taco Bell or any kind of Pretzel resembling thing!

Q5. What is your favourite pastime?
Apart from the usual things (Reading, Music, Blogging) I love spending time with my animals and learning new things – therefore I like studying! Also I used to do Hip Hop dancing which I still like to do by myself and without the pressure of competitions.

Thank y’all for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it! I am not going to nominate anyone today! I’ve been doing a lot of tagging these last few posts so I decided that I want to tell everyone that they should do this award if the feel like it! I know that all the blogs I follow fulfill all the criteria for this award so just go ahead and do it – YOU DESERVE IT!  ☺

Songs on Repeat Book Tag

I got tagged in this amazing Tag by Lara @ The Heathen who is the creator of this Tag as well! I think I’m starting to repeat myself but definitely check out her blog!! Her content is awesome, she is really supportive, and on top of that she’s a great writer! Here are the songs that are on repeat on my playlist – or in my head 😋

Wie soll ein Mensch das ertragen by Philip Poisel

This is one of the few German songs that I absolutely love!! I know that it might not be a good idea to put a song first that a lot of people won’t understand, but I think even if you can’t understand the lyrics it still is a beautiful song and I love listening to it!

White Tiger by Our Last Night

This is one of my favorite songs of all time!! It is so beautiful and I think it’s not only for fans of this genre but also for other music lovers that are interested in any kind of rock music! I saw Our Last Night live a few weeks ago and this was the song I was most excited for!! Couldn’t wait to hear it live ❤

Forest by Twenty One Pilots

I love Twenty One Pilots! They are so different from a lot of the bands out there and they combine so many styles in their music and even their own songs differ from each other so much! And just let me clarify: I loved them before all the hype and I’m not one of those who only know two or three songs and still calls them their favorite band… I love the chorus of this song and can’t listen to it often enough!

Fame is for Assholes by Hoodie Allen feat Chiddy

This song isn’t what I usually listen too but I absolutely love listening to it in the car with my sister! She has a very different taste in music and the only band we agree on is Twenty One Pilots! But this song is OUR JAM in the car!

Missing You by All Time Low

All Time Low is my absolute all time favorite band! Actually I found out about them through a book I’ve read a while back, which is kinda funny – it all comes back to books 😅 I love this band so much and their songs mean a lot to me, they also were the first “real” band whose concert I went to! Their songs are very emotional to me and helped me through some rough times, I absolutely love Alex Gaskarth’s voice and the sound of the band in general! I could really name any song here but Missing You is one that gets stuck very easily ❤

The music video contains some talking so below there’s just the music!

Anything by State Champs!!

(In this case: All you are is history)

I only started listening to State Champs the day before yesterday actually, and while I knew of them before that, I never really tried to find out more about them for some reason! When I was searching for Secrets by One Republic I came across their song Secrets and I am completely in love with the band! Their music is amazing and I can’t get enough of them! Can’t wait to discover more of their music and maybe see them live some time! 😉

I loved doing this Tag! I got to talk about my music (which is one of my favorite things to do!) and maybe some of you found something they like! I hope the ones that I’ll nominate will have fun with this Tag as well – I know I will, as I love finding out what kind of music people are into!

I Tag:

Yeah I’m REALLY interested in other people’s taste in music 😅

It’s my birthday! – 5 Things I’m thankful for when it comes to blogging

Hi my friends! As the title says I am happy to announce *drumroll please* :

Today is the day I am turning 18 and therefore I am officially an adult now! I have mixed feelings about this day, but I think I am mostly happy about being 18 now… I have a lot more freedoms and I will make good use of those! 😄 While talking about birthdays I want to mention that it’s Megan’s (Bookslayer Reads) birthday as well! Happy Birthday girl!

Now I want to mention 5 Things I am thankful for when it comes to blogging!

  1. Sharing the books that I love and my opinions with the blogging community!
  2. Finding new books, music, random things through other bloggers!
  3. Gaining confidence with ever single reaction to my posts!
  4. Having to think more about the books I read and therefore enjoying them more and understanding them better!
  5. Lastly and most importantly: All of you Guys!! I am so thankful for every single comment, like, tag, nomination and follow!! Y’all are so supportive and I am so lucky to call myself a part of this amazing blogging community! I will never be able to thank y’all enough for you help with building up my own little space in this huge thing called internet!!

Thank you guys so much for reading this post!! Sorry that this is such a short post but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless! ❤

What are blogging things you are thankful for? Do you agree with mine?

I messed up! | Book Tag

Today I have another Tag for y’all, that I’m kinda late for! 😅  But then again I am not since I just got tagged again two days ago by Angelina Kerner @ Where Dragons Reside! Thanks for that! Before that I had been tagged by Lara @ The Heathen and y’all should definitely check out their blogs! They both are really supportive and their posts are just great!! 😊

A Character Appearance you misread or imagined differently?

Well I don’t really misread it, but sometimes I “adjust” things 😂 For example when they are dressed in a way I absolutely hate and if it’s not important for the story I just imagine them looking a little different 😅

A character name that you’ve been pronouncing wrong?

Yes! Rune from A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole! I always pronounced it like the English word rune, even though I knew it was wrong, since I didn’t know the right way. But the author once shared a video of a Norwegian friend of hers pronouncing the name (which is Norwegian), so now I know the correct pronunciation! Yay! But honestly… I still pronounce the name the same way as before because I’d probably mess up the Norwegian way completely!

*BTW I tried to find the video but I couldn’t – Sorry guys!*

An overused trope that is your guilty pleasure?

Uhmm…I guess the one that comes to my mind right now is “Sister falling for big brother’s friend”! I’, a sucker for those books, however cliché it might be!

A Cliché Character That You Like Better On Screen Than Reading About?

There aren’t any that I can think of…

A Word Or Phrase That You Learned Because of It’s Use In Books?

I learned A LOT of phrases and words from books, especially when I first started reading English books, since it’s not my first language! Even now I learn a lot of phrases but I can’t put my finger on a single one right now!

Have You Ever Read/Not Completed A Required Reading Book For School?

I always try to complete my readings for school, as I am really ambitious and want to be prepared for tests and such – Yes, sometimes it took a LONG time for me to finish them, but I always finished them in the end!

How You Ever Skipped (Or Wanted To) A Chapter From The Point Of View Of A Character You Weren’t Interested In?

I don’t think I’ve come across a POV by a character I didn’t like yet. But if I did I wouldn’t not read it, but maybe I would skim across it…

Have You Ever Cancelled Social Plans To Read A Book?

Not yet, even though I wanted to 😅 But sometimes I do read at social things – so my best friend made drinking game for that…. It’s bad!

I tag:

Thanks for reading and I hope y’all will have fun with the Tag!!

The Sunshine Blogger Award #2

Another Award! Yay, I’m so happy!!

First off, I’M SORRY FOR BEING LATE!! Once again I get to thank Jasemin @ How useful it is and Lara @ The Heathen for this nomination! Thank you two so much, this nomination means a lot to me, especially if it comes from someone like y’all! You guys should definitely check out their blogs! They both have great content and it’s a pleasure to read their posts!!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you!

  • Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you!

  • Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write the  11 new questions!

Line Two

Lara’s Questions:

1.How many books have you read this year?

So far I have read 84 books this year, with my goal being 120 by the end of 2016!

2.What is your favorite genre of books?

I gotta admit that I am really bad at saying what genre a book is, so … Young or New Adult books featuring supernatural beings! I am a sucker for those!! ❤

3.What’s your favorite past time apart from blogging?

Reading?! Nah, just kidding! Well, of course it is but apart from that I love listening to music and playing the guitar and I also kinda like studying – YES I’m a total loser!! But to my defense, I do it because I love learning new things and not for the sake of studying!

4. What’s your one true book love?

You mean as Book Boyfriend? Well what can I say…It’s still Roth, Crown Prince of Hell, from the Dark Elements series by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

5.What’s the last movie you watched?

Suicide Squad!! And it was *sorry* fucking amazing!!!

Diablo was my favorite character especially in his final form!!

6.What is the last book you bought?

When Stars Collide by Micalea Smeltzer. I rated it 4.5 Stars and a review should be coming soon.

7.How often do you blog?

I try to post 4 – 6 times a week, but as y’all might’ve noticed I don’t really go trough with it at points! 😅

8.Do people in your real world know that you’re a blogger?

Yes, my friends and family know about it but I do not call myself a blogger because I still feel like I’m not a blogger, but a person blogging…More about that in the next question!

9.Do you hate the words blog and blogger?

I definitely don’t hate or dislike the words but sometimes the word blogger is just weird I think. I never really feel comfortable calling myself a blogger because it always seems like you have to be crazy popular to qualify as a blogger and I don’t feel like I live up to those standards!

10.What’s your favorite curse world?

Well Fuck for one and also Kacke, which means Shit in German.

11.What’s your average reading time?

For ebooks it’s usually a few hours up to a day and for “real” books it’s usually a few days, because I can never really sit down and actually read for too long since I don’t always have too much time!

Line Two

Jasmine’s Questions:

1. Just have to ask because I am too curious! Who is your book boyfriend?

As I said above it’s still Roth from the Dark Elements series! But to mention someone else too for once: A close second is Ethan Dunn from the Supernaturals series by Kelly Oram! Son of Archangel Michael – just as badass as Roth, people!!

2. What inspired the name of your blog?

I suck with names for anything, so I had no clue what to call this blog at first, but then I thought that I want to talk about books – to say a word about books. Et voilà A Word About Books was born!

3. What is your favorite genre?

Young or New Adult featuring Supernaturals

4. What is your least favorite genre?

I think it is Non-Fiction. I don’t think I’ve ever read a Non-Fiction book… Any good recommendations to try it out?

5. How many hard copy books do you own right now?

I am not at home right now so I have no clue, but it’s not a lot a lot, because I had a big ebook phase 😩 But I’m working on accumulating more hard copies! I do own about 500 or more ebooks on my Amazon Kindle!

6. Do you read books by yourself or with a buddy?

I read books by myself. I wish I could do buggy reading but honestly I have no clue how that would work or who to do it with 😅 None of my friends like to read as much as me (or at all) and if they do, they usually read German. I’d love to do buddy reading though…

7. Have you been to a book release party at a bookstore?

No I have not and I don’t think there are ever any close to where I live.

8. Have you interview a favorite author?

No I haven’t. Once again I don’t really know how I’d get in contact with them and how that would work out. But I am going to try to figure it out, because I think that’d be awesome!

9. What would you do if you ran into your favorite author on the street?

10. What is your second favorite thing to do besides reading?

Listening to music, spending time with my dog, and learning new things!

(Just for clarification: This is not my dog, of course, but I do own a Beagle)

11. Have you ever read for others? Like at a nursing home or read to your grandparents?

I don’t know if this counts, but I read for some kindergarten-kids a few times when I did an internship at said kindergarten. Also I took part in a reading contest once in 5th grade where I read for the school from Brisingr (The Inheritance Cycle #3) by Christopher Paolini.

7 Facts about myself

  1. I love dyeing my hair! I  am not very adventurous when it comes to other things, so I feel like I can express myself through my hair…to an extend. The “craziest” so far were probably turquoise and pastel pink.
  2. My favorite Snacks are Taki’s!
  3. I am totally OCD when it comes to my bed. I sometimes make it multiple times a day and if you sit on it without my permission and mess it up we have a SERIOUS problem!
  4. My dad has ten dogs.
  5. I spent a High School Year in Texas and it has strengthened my love for the English language and my wish to study/live in an English-speaking country.
  6. I am very indecisive. Even after making decisions I question them A LOT. (This is also why I have and will change my blog theme multiple times)
  7. I love water and especially the ocean! I might go on to study Marine Biology or Aquatic Science.

My Nominees

*I know some of you have already been nominated and some have already written their posts but I hope you enjoy anyways!*

Thank you all for reading and being with me on my bookish journey, it means a lot!

3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag ~ Day 1

Hi Guys! Today I am starting with the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag that I was tagged in by Martin @ a pretty wonderful book! Thank you so much!! Y’all should definitely check out his blog if haven’t already!

The Rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Post a quote for 3 consecutive days (1 quote for each day)
3. Nominate three new bloggers each day

I absolutely love Immanuel Kant as a philosopher and the views he had on several topics like humanity, society and how we should (or shouldn’t) treat one another! I think this quote just holds so much truth about the majority of humanity so I thought this would be a good one to start the three days off.

Today I tag:

Thank you guys for reading!! 🙂

July Wrap-Up and Personal Update

Hi Guys! So today is the last day of July which conveniently falls on a Sunday and it’s time for this month’s Wrap-Up and a little personal update! I haven’t been able to read a lot this month – I honestly don’t know why!

What I’ve read this month:

  • The Game that Breaks Us by Micalea Smeltzer
  • Rae of Sunshine by Micalea Smeltzer – I gave both of these book 4 Stars. Micalea Smeltzer is one of my favorite authors in the New Adult genre and I also love her Willow Creek series that shifts from Young Adult to New Adult. I was really excited for The Game that Breaks Us and I enjoyed most of the book, which is a given when reading Smeltzer’s books. Rae of Sunshine was actually a re-read and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time I read it.
  • Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer – I gave this book 5+ Stars and you can find the review here!
  • Deep Redemption (Hades Hangmen #4) by Tillie Cole – I gave this book 5 Stars! This author is my absolute favorite when it comes to New Adult novels and she is also the one who got me into that genre. I have basically loved every single one of her books and I can’t wait for the next one to come out!
  • Saving Tatum (Trace + Olivia #4) by Micalea Smeltzer – I gave this book 5 Stars!
  • Tone Deaf by Olivia Rivers – I gave this book 3.5 Stars and you can find the review here!
  • Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer – I gave this book 5+ Stars and you can find my review here!

I also attempted to read Josh and Hannah by Lynda Chance but I absolutely hated it and couldn’t finish it! I don’t want to review this book since it would be negative all the way, but I appreciate the authors effort and I don’t just want to bash her book. I think it was probably just meant for a different audience.

I am sorry for reading only these few books and for posting even less reviews, but this was my first month of real blogging and I’ll try to do better for the following months!

Currently I am reading:

  • the absolutely amazing Cress by Marissa Meyer which is part of the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING series The Lunar Chronicles!
  • Oblivion by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This is Obsidian re-told from Daemon’s POV!

Now let’s move on to the updatey part:

In Bavaria the summer holidays just started two days ago and from tomorrow on I’ll be spending the next five weeks in the USA!! YAY!!!! I am so freaking excited, because I am going to see my family again, that hosted me during my High School Year over there. Since I don’t get to spend time with them often, I might not be able to post a lot during that time, but I’ll try to keep posting one review per week and keep up the Top 5 Wednesday, at least! When I come back I will definitely make a bookhaul post and after that I’ll make one for my birthday (that is soon after) as well!

Also, due to the whole seeing my family thing, I probably won’t be able to read a lot during my time in the States…Which is also going to make the 26 Books Challenge, which I was tagged in by Lara, pretty hard! But I’ll do my best and it sounds like SO MUCH fun!!

Thank you guys for reading and I hope y’all had a good month of July! Good luck for August!! 🙂

A to Z About Me Tag

Hi Guys! How’s your week been? Today I want to tell y’all a little bit more about myself and I thought the A to Z About Me Tag would be a good way of doing so. I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this, but I saw the Tag on Teenbooklit101 and really liked the post, so here we go!

Age: I’m 17 but I’m gonna be turning 18 soon (more or less).

Book you’re currently reading: Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer! I absolutely love that series!

Chore you hate: I love having a clean and tidy room but I really hate cleaning up said room! smiling-face-with-open-mouth-and-cold-sweat

Dessert you love: I kinda like anything with chocolate for desert but I couldn’t get around a Chocolate Lava Cake if my life depended on it!!!

Essential start to your day: This might seem cliché but an essential to my morning is reading! 🙂 It doesn’t even have to be much but every morning I read at least a few pages… a reason why I always almost miss my train! Maybe I should overthink this habit…Nah, never!!

Favorite Author: I’m sorry but I can’t really give a good answer for this question because I don’t really have a favorite author. It always depends on the book and the genre I’m reading, but currently I think I could say Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Gold or Silver: Silver!!!!

Height: I’m 1,70m or 5ft and 6 inches tall.

Instruments you play: I ‘ve been playing the guitar since elementary school but since I haven’t taken practice as serious as I should have, I am not as good as I should be. I also know some basic things on the bass, drums and piano.

Job title: I am still a student and have a part-time job.

Kids: Well since I am 17 kids aren’t anywhere in my near future.

Living arrangement: I’m still living with my mom and older sister.

Most used word/phrase: Hmmm…I think I tend to say “Yo” a lot and I don’t even know why and there’s also a German phrase I often say to my friends which is “Freunde der Sonne!”. This means “Friends of the sun” but really doesn’t have any meaning the way I use it, it’s just something my sister started saying at some point… 🙂giphy8

Nickname: My real name is Tamara but I go by Tammy and also introduce myself as Tammy, even my teachers call me by that name.

Overnight hospital stays: When I was 2 years old I had to have surgery on my foot and I definitely had to stay over night but I don’t know how long exactly.

Pet peeves: One pet peeve (if you can call it that) is that all my books in a series have to be the same editions. For example, the series can’t be part eBook and part Paperback and even when it’s Paperback it should be the same publisher… That’s why I almost can’t look at my The Maze Runner books – the first two I bought in South Africa so they are different versions than the third one, which I ordered on Amazon and which is the “normal” American version. It drives me NUTS!!

Quotes I like: I’ll just mention two quotes that I really love for now:

  • “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
  • “Forever was something we all took for granted, but the problem with forever was that it really didn’t exist.” – Jennifer L. Armentrout, The Problem With Forever

Right or Left handed: Right handed

Siblings: One biological older sister. But since I spent a High School year in the USA 2014/15 I also got three younger sisters now.

Time you woke today: After 10 am

Unique thing about you: I don’t even know anything really unique about myself…Does an incredibly deep love for tea count? I absolutely love tea and drink it all year around.

Vegetable you love: I like a lot of veggies but my favorites are tomatoes I think!

Worst habit: Not being able to remember things when I need to the most… smiling-face-with-open-mouth-and-cold-sweat

X-Rays you’ve had: Definitely had a few but they never turned out to be anything really bad – well the results I mean.

Yummy food you make: I think my omelette’s pretty good as well as my brownies.

Zodiac Sign: Virgo

There we go guys and these were some facts about me. What are some interesting things about you? Thank you very much for reading and I hope you liked getting to know me a little bit better. Even though I will not tag anybody just do this tag if you want to share some facts about yourself! Have a nice Sunday – or what’s left of it! 🙂
